Movement as a Squad

The Standard Squad formation is the Modified Wedge

Lead Team forms a standard wedge formation. The Squad Leader is places in the center for good command and control. The Trail team forms a Diamond formation.

The primary reasons for this formation are:

1. Lead Team is positioned for the largest volume of fire to the front and sides. This provides no less that 180 degrees of security.

2. Squad leader is in the center to provide command for all elements and the ability to reposition under cover of fire and deploy where needed.

3. Trail Team is positioned to provide rear security for the squad. The lead member of the team and the Team Leader have the ability to move under the cover of fire to an advantageous position.

In cases where Squad size is smaller, the teams will keep the same basic principles of this formation.
